Smallholder’s Tea Week 2024 is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting Indonesian tea. This two-days event took place in December 2024 in the city of Bandung, with the theme "Consumption of Indonesian Green Tea". The event aimed not only to appreciate local green tea, but also to strengthen its position in the hearts of Indonesian people.

Hosted at Roemah Kentang 1908 in Bandung City, the first day featured an interactive talk show titled “Original Indonesian Green Tea: A Unique, Authentic, and Fun Drink!" The event brought together tea farmers from West Java and Central Java, as well as representatives from the government, communities, and tea practitioners. They listened to inspiring presentations by notable figures such as Farhana Nariswari, Princess of Indonesia 2023; Indra Andika, a digital marketing expert; Fajar M.Y. Zain, a strategic business consultant; and Nanang Christianto from the management of “Juwara Tea.” Various aspects of green tea were discussed, including the development of the industry in Indonesia and marketing strategies aimed at enhancing competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

The talk show was further enlivened by Alfiansyah Bustami (Komeng), a member of Committee II of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, who took the time to listen to the aspirations of dozens of tea farmers. In addition to the talk show, visitors had the opportunity to taste a variety of green teas directly from farmers, showcasing flavors and aromas that reflect the rich diversity of Indonesian tea gardens during Smallholder’s Tea Week 2024.

On the second day of the event, tea farmers and several Indonesian tea practitioners distributed 5,000 free green tea products to the public at Saparua Field in Bandung City. This initiative celebrated togetherness and served as an educational means to raise awareness about Indonesian green tea. It is hoped that this event can create a green tea party that everyone can enjoy, from children to adults.

Smallholder’s Tea Week 2024 served as an opportunity to reintroduce Indonesian green tea to the public while acknowledging the contributions of tea farmers, who are the backbone of this industry. Various local and national media outlets covered and supported the green tea drinking movement highlighted during the event. By engaging multiple stakeholders, Smallholder’s Tea Week 2024 aspires to inspire the public to appreciate, embrace, and support local Indonesian green tea products.
